Graduate Cybersecurity Specialist - 2026

Join Mott MacDonald in its Blueprint three-year graduate program as a Graduate Cybersecurity Specialist (2026), supporting teams focused on operational technology (OT) and industrial communication security. This hybrid role in New York, New York combines hands-on technical work with collaboration across multidisciplinary projects, including SCADA and field device integration.

You will contribute to the design and cybersecurity evaluation of industrial networks, supporting secure and reliable OT solutions from early planning through testing and documentation. The position also emphasizes learning and growth through mentorship and structured development experiences.

What you’ll do

• Assist with the design and implementation of industrial communication networks for SCADA and OT systems
• Support configuration and troubleshooting of managed switches, firewalls, routers, and VPN solutions
• Assist with SCADA programming, HMI development, RTAC configuration, and system integration activities
• Integrate field devices using protocols such as DNP3, Modbus TCP/RTU, and OPC UA
• Support OT cybersecurity assessments, cyber risk evaluations, and implementation of cybersecurity controls
• Assist with system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities
• Develop network diagrams, points lists, test procedures, and technical documentation
• Participate in project and client meetings
• Support multidisciplinary project teams in delivering secure and reliable OT solutions
• Leverage digital tools and innovative technologies to improve project delivery

What you’ll need

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field
• Interest in industrial networking, SCADA systems, automation, OT systems, or cybersecurity through coursework, internships, projects, or extracurricular activities
• Basic understanding of IP networking concepts, including switches, routers, VLANs, and firewalls
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively independently and within a multidisciplinary team
• Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving project requirements

Helpful experience and knowledge

• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA, or similar technologies is preferred
