Full Time Faculty - CIS - Cybersecurity

Henry Ford College seeks a Full Time Faculty member for CIS Cybersecurity to teach and support students through a mix of in-person, online, and hybrid instruction.

Responsibilities

• Teach 15 contact hours per week and provide a minimum of 5 hours per week for student consultation.
• Develop innovative, effective learning experiences (lectures, labs, demonstrations, exercises, activities) to support student engagement and achievement.
• Coordinate courses within the discipline, including syllabus template maintenance, updating and distributing instructor guides, selecting textbooks and learning materials, updating course policies, and revising/distributing course documents and resources.
• Mentor instructors and collaborate with academic leadership and support staff on course and discipline coordination.
• Integrate instructional technology into classroom and laboratory environments to enhance and facilitate learning.
• Contribute to student learning experiences beyond the classroom (assigned labs, studios, academic supports), including organization and maintenance of equipment used in those settings.
• Promote and follow safety and security protocols for equipment and facility usage in learning environments.
• Maintain current discipline knowledge and educational methodologies through ongoing professional development.
• Collaborate on course, curriculum, and program development; teaching innovation; student retention and completion; enrollment initiatives; assessment of student learning; testing and grading; instructor training and mentoring; and compliance with program/department/school/division policies and processes.
• Support implementation of the College’s mission, underlying principles, and strategic plan.
• Monitor and document student academic performance/progress to ensure completion of course and program learning outcome criteria.
• Support student success by helping students understand and navigate College resources.
• Work with the College community to meet the needs of students with diverse backgrounds and abilities in both classroom and College environments.
• Participate in shared governance through committee attendance and service across program, department, school, division, and College-wide committees.
• Assist with other program/department/school/division/College initiatives as needed.
• Comply with program, department, school, division, and College policies, procedures, and processes, including meeting assigned deadlines and due dates.
• Perform other job-related duties as qualified or trained to perform.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in Cybersecurity or a Computer Science/CIS-related field, with advanced coursework in Cybersecurity.
• Equivalent of five or more years of full-time professional Cybersecurity experience.
• CISSP or similar certification required.
• Demonstrated programming/scripting experience required.
• Successfully completed at least two years full-time teaching (or equivalent part-time teaching experience) in higher education at a community-college comparable level.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in oral and written form.
• Competence designing, organizing, and delivering effective learning experiences in classroom and/or laboratory settings.
• Effectiveness using technology to provide instruction, including use of online learning platforms to deliver and manage course materials; willingness and ability to be trained on new technology as needs arise.
• Understanding of the community college mission/philosophy, with the desire and ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, staff, and community college students in a diverse and multicultural setting.
• Commitment to keeping professional skills and knowledge up-to-date.

Preferred / Additional Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in Cybersecurity or Computer Science/CIS-related field
• Certification and/or experience in Networking, System Administration, and CompTIA A+ / Linux+
• Experience maintaining Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) accreditation
• Experience incorporating AI into department curriculum
• Experience teaching in a variety of delivery modalities, including in-person
