Job Description

The Federal Bureau of Investigation seeks an experienced cybersecurity and IT professional to serve as an FBI Special Agent in San Diego, CA, onsite. The role supports investigations tied to federal law violations involving information security, with practical engagement of SIEM tools to help protect public safety and national security.

This position requires eligibility for Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance, a master’s degree or higher from a U.S. accredited institution, and the ability to travel as needed while maintaining the physical readiness expected of law enforcement duties.

Role focus

  • Investigate potential cybersecurity-related federal law violations and related public safety matters.
  • Use information security and SIEM tools experience to support investigative work.
  • Contribute to efforts that protect both public safety and national security.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct investigations involving potential violations of federal laws, cybersecurity, and public safety.
  • Apply judgment, resourcefulness, and versatility to meet investigative demands.
  • Develop and sustain liaison relationships with federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, and international law enforcement agencies.
  • Maintain an appropriate level of physical fitness to support law enforcement readiness.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain a Top Secret SCI clearance.
  • Must be willing to travel as required.
  • Must meet the FBI’s Employment Eligibility requirements.
  • Must hold a master’s degree or higher from a U.S. accredited college or university.

Salary

  • USD 103,236 - 133,200 per year.
  • Salary is commensurate with base, locality, and availability pay.
