Job Description

The FBI Special Agent role emphasizes information security and practical experience with SIEM tools to support investigations involving potential violations of federal laws tied to cybersecurity and public safety. Salary

  • Pay Range: USD 103,236 - 133,200 per year
  • Pay Level: $103,236.00 - $133,200.00
  • Compensation Basis: Salary is commensurate with base, locality, and availability pay

Education

A master’s degree or higher from a U.S. accredited college or university is required.

Summary of the Role

As a Special Agent, you will investigate potential violations of federal laws related to cybersecurity and public safety. The work requires applying skills and tools used in cyber defense, including encryption practices, threat detection, and vulnerability analysis. The role also involves transitioning into federal law enforcement responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct investigations of potential violations of federal laws, cybersecurity, and public safety.
  • Exercise judgment, resourcefulness, and versatility to meet investigative demands.
  • Create and maintain effective liaison relationships with federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, and international law enforcement agencies.
  • Maintain a level of physical fitness required to perform law enforcement duties.

Required Qualifications

  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Clearance: Must be able to obtain a Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Clearance.
  • Travel: Must be willing to travel as required.
  • Eligibility: Must meet the FBI’s Employment Eligibility requirements.
  • Education: Must hold a master’s degree or higher from a U.S. accredited college or university.
