Cybersecurity Engineer and Risk Analyst
Job Description
Booz Allen Hamilton is looking for a Cybersecurity Engineer and Risk Analyst to support DoD and Navy missions from our San Diego operations. The role combines implementing security controls, conducting risk and vulnerability assessments, and applying RMF to safeguard critical systems. This onsite position emphasizes clear communication with diverse audiences, hands-on control deployment, and data-driven threat analysis to strengthen cyber defenses.
Responsibilities
- Build relationships quickly with colleagues and stakeholders, translating security concepts for a range of audiences including senior management.
- Deploy infrastructure and cybersecurity controls to enhance detection, vulnerability management, and event correlation across large enterprise environments.
- Perform risk and vulnerability assessments across network, system, and application domains.
- Leverage big data analytics alongside standard security events to identify advanced threats and indicators of compromise.
Requirements
- 3+ years of IT experience supporting DoD or government agency environments
- 2+ years of experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF)
- Experience with security controls or policies, compliance, vulnerability analysis or remediation for networks, systems, or communications protocols
- Knowledge of operating systems and technologies, including Windows, Linux, cloud, and virtualization
- Familiarity with eMASS and processing packages through workflows, assisting with generating security policies, evaluating assessment documentation, and developing written security risks, mitigations, and recommendations
- Ability to plan and deliver client outcomes, work independently, identify problems, and communicate results to technical and non-technical audiences while leading tasks from inception to completion
- Capability to plan, implement, upgrade, or monitor cybersecurity measures to improve defenses and maintain a cyber-resilient network

Nice If You Have
- Experience with ACAS, STIG, and Evaluate-STIG tools
- Experience integrating security into DevOps or DevSecOps pipelines
- Experience implementing automation methodologies and processes
- Experience deploying, maintaining, and integrating cybersecurity tools aligned with the current threat landscape, plus risk analysis at tactical and strategic levels
- Experience with network engineering functions covering Windows, Linux, and virtual operating systems, security tooling, firewalls, proxies, IPS, vulnerability scanners, and penetration tools
- Experience responding to computer security breaches and reporting as required
- Ability to meet cyber schedule, performance, and quality metrics within SDLC and acquisition lifecycle
- TS/SCI clearance
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer, Electrical, Electronics Engineering, or Mathematics
- OS Certification
Clearance
Applicants selected will undergo a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. A Secret clearance is required.
Compensation
Salary range: $61,900.00 to $141,000.00 (annualized USD).
