Cybersecurity Engineer
Job Description
Join Ephesus Solutions in Las Vegas, NV as a cybersecurity engineer responsible for safeguarding and strengthening IT security across varied environments, driving robust defenses, vulnerability assessments, and incident response in alignment with NIST and ISO 27000.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and operate network security infrastructure on-site in Las Vegas, NV, including Cisco ASA firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and SIEM platforms such as Splunk or New Relic to monitor threats.
- Perform vulnerability research, assessments, and penetration testing in line with industry standards to proactively identify and mitigate risk.
- Harden IT infrastructure by configuring TCP/IP, IPsec, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and managing devices such as Cisco routers and Juniper gear.
- Develop and enforce system security plans and hardening procedures, plus incident response playbooks in accordance with FISMA, FedRAMP, or DISA guidelines.
- Administer identity and access management across cloud environments using LDAP, Active Directory, SSO, and PKI to ensure secure authentication on AWS and Google Cloud Platform.
- Support disaster recovery planning with high availability configurations (load balancing, VMware vSphere) and conduct incident recovery exercises to sustain business continuity.
- Collaborate with development teams to embed security into DevOps practices, supporting CI/CD pipelines with Ansible, Terraform, and related automation tools.
Requirements
- Strong grounding in computer networking concepts including LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, plus routing protocols such as EIGRP and OSPF, with familiarity in network support tools. On-site in Las Vegas, NV.
- Hands-on experience with firewall management (Cisco ASA), IDS/IPS, VPN technologies (IPsec, SSL VPN), and monitoring tools like SolarWinds or PRTG.
- Deep knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and standards, including NIST, ISO 27000 series, COBIT, DIACAP, RMF and FISMA compliance.
- Automation and scripting proficiency in Python and Bash, with system administration experience on Linux distros (Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian) and Windows.
- Cloud experience across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform, including secure PaaS/IaaS design principles.
- Experience with threat detection and response using SIEM, conducting vulnerability assessments, log analysis, and managing incident workflows.
- English language proficiency required.
