Cybersecurity Engineer
Job Description
Community College of Baltimore County is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer to safeguard its computing and network infrastructure in Catonsville, MD. This role blends administrative oversight with hands-on security operations to protect campus systems, user data, and critical processes across on-premises and cloud environments. The position is onsite in Catonsville, with a salary range of USD 71,029 to 117,400 annually.
Responsibilities
- Perform administrative and technical work to secure and support the College's computing and network infrastructure.
- Conduct periodic risk assessments of data systems and business processes, identify vulnerabilities, determine acceptable levels of risk, and propose strategies to reduce those risks.
- Respond to security incidents, conduct forensic investigations, and coordinate resolution and end-user training.
- Install, configure, and maintain access control lists (ACLs), firewalls, and other security appliances to safeguard institutional data.
- Review, test, and recommend security enhancements to protect college operations in both on-premises and cloud-hosted environments.
- Communicate with the college community and provide training on current network and information security procedures.
- Support the implementation of security measures to protect the College's computer systems, networks, and data.
- Provide technical assistance for the college's academic cybersecurity program.
Requirements
- An associate degree in cybersecurity with at least one year of cybersecurity or information technology experience, or a bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity.
- Experience securing operating systems, networks, and applications at an enterprise level.
- Cybersecurity certifications are preferred.
