Job Description

The University of Arkansas offers a regular, onsite IT Security role within Cybersecurity Support, focused on strengthening how information systems are protected. The position includes $75,092 per year and a benefits package designed to support employees and their families, including health, dental, and life and disability insurance contributions, tuition waivers, 12 official holidays, immediate leave accrual, and retirement program options with university contributions ranging from 5% to 10% of employee salary.

Responsibilities

The Associate IT Security Analyst plans, coordinates, and implements security measures for information systems to regulate access to computer data files and help prevent unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure of information. Key duties include:

  • Planning, coordinating, and implementing security measures for information systems to control access to data and reduce the risk of unauthorized changes, destruction, or disclosure
  • Analyzing and assessing vulnerabilities across infrastructure including software, hardware, and networks
  • Investigating tools used to identify and detect vulnerabilities, then recommending solutions
  • Assessing damage to infrastructure resulting from security incidents
  • Examining available tools and processes to support remediation efforts
  • Testing for compliance with security policies and procedures
  • Maintaining regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance and building and sustaining collegial, harmonious working relationships

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution of higher education
  • At least four years of experience in Information Technology
  • At least two years of experience in information security, incident response, SOC, Cloud, or equivalent
  • At least one year of hands-on experience with SIEM tools (Sentinel, Splunk, or equivalent) and log analysis
  • Current certification such as CEH, CCNA-Security, Security+, Cloud+, GSEC, or similar certifications compatible with ISO 17024 or US DoD 8570.01
  • Experience with Azure Security
  • Experience assessing application and/or system risk
  • Experience handling phishing or spear phishing attacks
  • Experience with penetration testing or read teaming
  • Experience executing and managing Information System incident response and administrative inquiries/investigations in collaboration with the Investigations department
  • Experience with at least one programming, scripting language, or SQL
  • Comfort with technical concepts including regular expressions, data normalization, and correlation
