Application Security Engineer I, Cybersecurity
Job Description
Entry-level Application Security Engineer I role supporting application security tool stacks on the Cybersecurity Technical Assessments team.
Responsibilities
- Assist with reviewing source code for secure coding practices
- Operate SAST, DAST, and SCA tools under supervision to identify potential vulnerabilities
- Help verify and validate tool outputs; document findings for follow-up
- Log and track discovered security issues in ticketing systems
- Support secure SDLC practices and CI/CD integration
- Collaborate with development and operations teams on basic automation tasks
- Participate as a learner in secure code and design reviews
- Create basic reports and summaries of assessment results
- Contribute to security awareness and training efforts
Requirements
- Foundational understanding of security tools and vulnerabilities
- Basic scripting or programming knowledge
- Familiarity with network, application, and system security vulnerabilities
- Proficiency in scripting and programming languages relevant to security tasks
- Ability to follow procedures and analyze basic security issues
- Strong attention to detail when identifying and addressing security vulnerabilities
- Clear written and verbal communication; willingness to learn explaining technical issues
- Ability to communicate security issues to non-technical stakeholders
- Works well in team settings; open to feedback and mentorship
- Ability to work effectively with a remote team that may span multiple time zones
- Curiosity and commitment to developing cybersecurity skills

Work Location / Travel Requirements
- Remote role in/near Blue Ash, OH
- Must be willing and able to travel and work onsite at client, temporary, or corporate office locations as business needs require
Compensation
- USD 84,000 - 132,300 per year, based on experience
- Compensation includes consideration of geographic location, knowledge, skills, relevant experience, education, licensure, internal equity, and time in position
- Entry rate typically does not fall at the minimum or maximum of the role’s range
- Inquisitive approach expected, including openness to innovation such as AI to explore better processes and reduce friction while improving patient and client experiences
