Job Description

American Airlines is hiring an Analyst/Sr Analyst for IT Cybersecurity Operations in Fort Worth, TX, with onsite expectations. In this role, you will help protect the organization’s technology assets by overseeing daily cybersecurity operations, driving threat detection and incident response activities, and supporting security tool deployment and capability growth.

Role overview

You will work in the Cybersecurity Operations domain to manage ongoing cyber defense, including threat detection and incident response, security tool implementation, and team development. The position focuses on maintaining operational security while balancing technical oversight with business alignment so systems stay resilient and the operation runs smoothly, effectively, and proactively.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily cybersecurity activities for the cyber defense of technology assets, including threat detection and incident response.
  • Implement security tools to support operational effectiveness and improve detection and response outcomes.
  • Contribute to team development within Cybersecurity Operations.
  • Balance technical oversight and business alignment to protect digital assets while keeping the team empowered and operations running reliably.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training.
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Master’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience/training.
  • 3+ years of experience in Security Operations Centers.
  • Airline industry experience.
  • Advanced understanding of security frameworks and protocols across cybersecurity testing, intelligence, ASM, and threat management.
  • Advanced understanding of the integration of physical and cyber security, including access control systems and surveillance technologies.
  • Ability to identify cryptographic weaknesses, TLS misconfigurations, and insecure transmissions.
  • Dedication to improving security across cybersecurity testing, intelligence, ASM, and threat management.
  • Experience with vulnerability assessment tools, penetration testing tools, threat intelligence platforms, SIEM systems, and secure communication networks.
  • Hands-on experience with Burp Suite, Nmap, Responder, Hashcat, Metasploit, BloodHound, Cobalt Strike or equivalent tools.
  • Experience related to Active Directory / Kerberos attack paths, privilege escalation, lateral movement, and EDR evasion tradecraft.
  • Cloud pentesting experience (Azure/AWS/M365) and container/Kubernetes security.
  • Project management experience is highly preferred.
  • Relevant certifications are highly desirable, including: CISSP, CEH, GIAC, SANS, CISM, OSCP, GPEN, GCIA, CSSP-A, and CISA.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences across organizational levels.
