UAS Cybersecurity Engineer

SAIC is seeking a UAS Cybersecurity Engineer to support security hardening and documentation for unmanned aircraft systems and related subsystems. Based in Huntsville, AL on an onsite schedule, this role combines hands-on technical work with vulnerability testing, Security Control Assessment support, and regular delivery of cyber reporting in an agile scrum environment.

The position focuses on improving the security posture of UAS systems through installation, configuration, scanning, and documented evaluation efforts, using established frameworks and security tooling. The engineer will also collaborate across engineering, software, networking, and project teams to implement and maintain technical security controls.

Responsibilities

• Perform software and system installation, configuration, and troubleshooting for commercial and government software supporting system development, scanning, and hardening.
• Run application source, hardware component, and operating system scans to identify vulnerabilities.
• Implement system configuration changes to address vulnerabilities, including updates to Microsoft Windows and UNIX-based operating system configuration files.
• Conduct cybersecurity vulnerability testing, complete full system evaluation, and document results.
• Prepare for and support Security Control Assessment (SCA) events using STIGs, ACAS, NESSUS, and the NIST Risk Management Framework.
• Coordinate with system integrators, network engineers, software developers, and project managers to implement, maintain, and monitor technical security controls while hardening information systems.
• Work within an agile scrum development model, producing cyber reports and hardened systems on a biweekly basis.
• Develop cybersecurity engineering technical materials, including vulnerability assessment reports, architectural analysis reports, system security plan, security control traceability matrix, and cyber SOPs using the Microsoft Office Suite.

Requirements

• Strong experience with Linux operating systems.
• Experience with system scanning, vulnerability identification, and vulnerability resolution.
• Experience with industry cybersecurity tools including ACAS, Nessus, SCAP, and STIG Viewer.
• Experience with source code scanning utilities (examples include Checkmarx, SonarQube, Fortify, etc.).
• Must possess an active Secret security clearance prior to starting; must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
• Actively hold or have the ability to obtain CompTIA Security+ within 90 days of hire.
• Intermediate Level: Bachelors degree and five (5) years of experience; four (4) years of additional experience in lieu of a degree.
• Senior Level: Bachelors degree and nine (9) years of experience; four (4) years of additional experience in lieu of a degree.
