Systems Security Engineer I - 304214

Delaware Nation Industries is seeking a Systems Security Engineer I to support an AFRL base cybersecurity team in a hands-on role focused on strengthening security, improving visibility, and helping teams meet governance and compliance needs. This onsite position in Rome, NY offers USD 65,000 to 75,000 per year, along with benefits that cover a major share of employee healthcare and support long-term financial and professional growth.

What you’ll do

In this role, you will help drive key cybersecurity functions across vulnerability management, threat defense, and governance-related activities. You will identify security weaknesses, support monitoring and protection efforts, and provide clear updates to stakeholders based on your findings.

• Support vulnerability management, including vulnerability scanning, identification, tracking, mitigation, and remediation.
• Support threat defense activities such as intrusion detection and protection and SIEM log and event correlation.
• Assist with cybersecurity governance and compliance tasks, including policy implementation, documentation, and audit support.
• Document work and maintain accurate records using ticketing systems, IT asset management tools, Microsoft Office, and other required software.
• Communicate security-related findings, actions, and status updates to appropriate stakeholders.
• Manage multiple priorities, work independently, and support program needs across the assigned environment.

What you bring

• Active Secret security clearance.
• Security+ or an equivalent DoD 8140-aligned certification.
• 5+ years of experience in computer support, IT customer service, cybersecurity, or a related field, with direct experience in cybersecurity functions.
• Working knowledge of computer hardware, software, networking, and common cybersecurity practices.
• Experience or familiarity with vulnerability management, threat defense, SIEM log and event correlation, governance, compliance, or auditing.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, listening skills, and written and verbal communication.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and operate effectively with limited supervision.
• Experience or familiarity with government IT asset management systems (preferred).
• An associate or bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, information technology, computer science, or a related field (preferred).
