Sr Info Security Engineer

The Senior Information Security Engineer will help lead security technology deployment and configuration across key security domains, delivering end-to-end security capabilities for business environments. The role combines engineering ownership with automation, governance, and continuous improvement, alongside collaboration on audits and incident response.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert recommendations and security best practices to security, technical, and stakeholder leaders, including legal and regulatory teams.
• Design, implement, and govern comprehensive security solutions across multiple platforms using a range of security tools, programming languages, and services, with near-complete autonomy.
• Develop, implement, and monitor security solutions using multiple tools and services with minimal supervision required.
• Automate repetitive security operations to improve efficiency and scalability.
• Normalize and integrate diverse technologies to streamline security analysis and response workflows.
• Document security approaches, educate teammates, and mentor others in the use of complex security products and services.
• Identify and evaluate risks in the organization’s security posture and provide detailed recommendations for potential solutions.
• Innovate new methodologies to resolve production security issues and improve operational outcomes.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and assess their relevance and potential impact on the security posture.
• Continuously assess and test the effectiveness of security controls and recommend improvements.
• Serve as a senior technical resource within the security team, providing guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security into the development lifecycle and operational processes.
• Support security assessments and audits to help ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
• Assist with escalated incident response activities, including containment, investigation, and recovery.
• Stay current with industry trends, security standards, and best practices to defend against evolving threats.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of proven senior-level experience in information security, or 3 years in information security plus an additional 2-3 years in IT experience (System Administration, Network Administration), with a strong engineering and operations focus.
• Experience and knowledge of current security technologies: Databahn, NXlog, Google Secops, Bindplane, ProofPoint.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation for security operations.
• Experience with Linux/Unix and Windows administration, including Active Directory (AD) and EntraID.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Security Stack: Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Identity, Defender for CloudApps, Purview DLP, Intune.

Location and Salary

Location: Kansas City, MO (onsite)

Salary: USD 119,000 - 154,000 per year (US locations only). The anticipated base salary range for this role is $119,000-$154,000.
