Sr Cybersecurity Engineer- Data Security/ Data Protection

American Express is hiring a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to help move the enterprise Data Security program forward and improve security outcomes across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to advancing the enterprise Data Security program
• Lead complex cybersecurity initiatives across the organization
• Influence security outcomes throughout the business
• Support initiative leadership and drive security outcome improvements organization-wide

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity, data security, or security engineering in a large enterprise environment
• Solid understanding of data protection technologies
• Working knowledge of cloud security
• Experience with secure application development and security architecture principles
• Strong background in security governance, risk management, and compliance
• Experience participating in audit processes
• Proven experience driving process transformation, automation, and workflow modernization using scripting, APIs, or AI-enabled technologies
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
• Stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence technical teams and lead cross-functional initiatives
• Practical experience with cloud platforms, DevSecOps practices, and security automation tools
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or equivalent are a plus
