Job Description

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is seeking candidates with cybersecurity and technology expertise to serve as Special Agents, applying specialized knowledge to investigations involving potential federal law violations, cybersecurity issues, and threats to public safety. This onsite role in San Diego involves investigative work that builds real-world experience, supported by training designed for agents who maintain law enforcement readiness.

If you have a relevant academic background and can meet eligibility and clearance requirements, you will be positioned to contribute to investigations while sustaining the physical readiness needed for law enforcement duties.

What you will do

  • Plan and conduct investigations into potential violations of federal laws, cybersecurity, and public safety.
  • Use judgment, resourcefulness, and versatility to meet investigative demands.
  • Develop and maintain liaison relationships with federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, and international law enforcement agencies.
  • Maintain a level of physical fitness required to perform law enforcement duties.

Key requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to obtain a Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Clearance.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Must meet the FBI’s Employment Eligibility requirements.
  • Must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher (preferably in computer science, engineering, data science, information technology, or a related field) from a U.S. accredited college or university.

Compensation and work details

  • Salary: USD 103,326 - 133,200 per year.
  • Job type: Full-time.
  • Work location: San Diego, CA (onsite).
  • Work setting: On the road.
