Job Description

The Senior System Security Engineer will focus on vulnerability analysis and countermeasure design for subsystems and components used in U.S. weapon systems, addressing physical and digital threats across hardware and software domains, with Department of Defense clearance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assess proposed and existing system architectures for vulnerabilities related to reverse engineering and cyber exploitation.
  • Document vulnerabilities in white papers and attack countermeasure analyses.
  • Architect system‑level security requirements to mitigate identified vulnerabilities within U.S. weapon systems.
  • Prepare for, participate in, and brief customers and government design review meetings.
  • Engage across the product design life cycle, including system architecture, design, development, and verification.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise writing to support proposals for new opportunities.
  • Contribute to development of new product ideas and proposals.
  • Participate in industry working groups and provide security recommendations aligned with relevant government and commercial standards, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or a related science, engineering, or mathematics field, plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance at time of hire. Applicants will undergo a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of work.

What Sets You Apart

  • More than five years of proven embedded systems security design experience; preference for candidates with DoD embedded systems security background.
  • Advanced knowledge of cryptographic algorithms, appropriate usage, and vulnerabilities at both algorithm and implementation levels.
  • Strong understanding of hardware and software attacks and vulnerabilities, with the ability to balance solutions against residual risk.
  • Deep knowledge of computer hardware and software architectures, including CPU, FPGA, operating systems, and user-space runtimes.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts in writing for technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a strong attention to detail.
  • Creative, customer-facing, with experience negotiating and delivering win‑win outcomes to meet challenging requirements.

Workplace Options

This position is expected to be based onsite in either the Boise, Idaho or Salt Lake City, Utah offices.

Salary

Combined salary range: USD 142,407.00 to USD 150,195.00 per year.
