Senior Security Engineer, Detection & Response

As a Senior Security Engineer (IC5) on the Detection & Response team, you will lead incident response strategy and help build detection engineering frameworks that improve how Robinhood identifies and responds to threats, including AI-driven improvements to SecOps workflows.

Role Location and Work Model

• Location: Bellevue, WA (hybrid)

Compensation

• Salary: USD 187,000 - 220,000 per year

Key Responsibilities

• Lead security incident response workstreams with decisive execution, including rapid containment, impact quantification, and clear communication with leadership.
• Build, tune, and maintain a global detection catalog covering cloud and Kubernetes environments to support high precision, actionable alerting.
• Architect an Autonomic Security Operations (ASO) roadmap that integrates AI agents and automated issue discovery to advance response capabilities.
• Read and reason through complex, multi-language codebases to identify security vulnerabilities, evaluate threat vectors, and support remediation.
• Participate in an on-call rotation (one week per rotation) to maintain operational readiness.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Detection & Response, Incident Response, or Security Operations.
• Proven ability to lead complex incident responses under pressure, with action-oriented executive communication.
• Advanced experience securing cloud environments, with emphasis on Kubernetes.
• Ability to fluently read, analyze, and reason through code across multiple programming languages for complex security problem-solving.
• Track record designing, tuning, and operating scalable detection engineering pipelines and SOAR playbooks, including use of AI technologies to improve speed, scale, and quality.
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing agentic AI workflows for security operations.
• Ability to succeed in high-growth, fast-paced environments with evolving threat landscapes.

About the Role

This role is based in the Bellevue, WA, Menlo Park, CA, and Denver, CO office locations, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.

In the Senior Security Engineer (IC5) role, you will drive incident response strategy and build robust detection engineering frameworks. The position includes commanding high-stress incidents, reducing operational noise through an AI-native detection platform, and contributing to the broader AI-agentic ecosystem for SecOps. You will partner with Proactive Security, Security Engineering, Insider Trust, Infrastructure, Legal, and Communications to help protect Robinhood’s ecosystem.

Bonus Points
