Job Description

Oracle is hiring a Senior Security Engineer to strengthen security across products and services, build practical testing capabilities for engineering teams, and help ensure readiness for compliance and resilience needs. This role supports security assessments, event response, and data protection practices, with a requirement for a security clearance and onsite work in Reston, VA, 5 days a week.

What you will deliver

You will plan and perform in-depth security assessments across a range of products and services to identify potential vulnerabilities. You will also create and improve security testing tools that help engineering teams find security-related weaknesses earlier in the development lifecycle. Beyond testing, you will conduct security design activities and provide recommendations and guidance for improvement, contributing directly to safer system design.

Security monitoring and response are core to the work. You will participate in reviews of security alerts, recognize and escalate complex security violations to senior team members, and follow established protocols to contain and mitigate events. You will contribute to post-event reviews to identify opportunities to strengthen processes and outcomes.

Compliance and audit readiness are also a major focus. You will contribute to compliance assessments, review security compliance deliverables, and help ensure adherence to policies and industry standards. You will help implement measures to meet internal and external obligations in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, including maintaining security-focused inventory systems.

Data security and resilience support

Using security best judgment, you will recommend and apply data security practices to protect the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive information, including encryption, hashing, masking, and access management. You will also review documentation and procedures to find areas where data security practices can be improved.

You will contribute to business resilience by supporting the development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans, processes, and procedures, and by helping ensure these plans execute effectively to support critical systems and data during disruptions. You will also participate in assessing readiness for certification and/or audit to identify areas for improvement.
