Overview

HRU Tech is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Systems Engineer to support the C5ISR program for Ground Combat Platforms. This on-site, Sterling Heights, MI role is a long-term contract with potential conversion to a permanent position based on performance and business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Exercise authority over Cyber tasks to align cross-functional technical scope with schedule and constraints, ensuring a balanced, integrated, and compliant Cyber design across the vehicle system.
  • Develop and promote platform cyber-physical design best practices, tools, and education across the engineering enterprise via a cross-functional team to foster a cyber security culture.
  • Develop and manage system requirements and interface allocations including Performance and Space, weight and Power-Cooling, SWaP-CRaM, and produce system specification requirements compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate requirements, architectures, and system designs and manage changes, trades, and alternatives.
  • Lead trade studies and structured decisions for system and subsystem design, balancing space, weight, power, cost, reliability, and performance across a Cyber vehicle suite.
  • Oversee verification planning and execution across test, production, and field site validation phases.
  • Lead design and integration troubleshooting and root cause corrective action for production, development, and test projects.
  • Develop and evaluate checkpoint artifacts and Contract Data Requirements List (CDRLs) for technical accuracy and contract compliance.
  • Coordinate with platform Design IPTs for threat analysis, interface development, and requirements decomposition and compliance.
  • Evaluate new Cyber and C5ISR technologies for potential use on products.
  • Participate in and conduct peer reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related science; relevant cyber certificates or management credentials may be considered.
  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with engineering and military projects.
  • Proficiency with Cameo Systems Modeler and modeling languages such as SysML.
  • Experience with embedded system engineering in cyber space.
  • Experience with Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment (TARA).
  • Experience with Cyber Tabletop Exercise (CTTX) drills.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with federal regulations and standards, including NIST SP 800-37 and NIST SP 800-53.
  • Experience preparing and maintaining System Security Plans (SSPs), Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms), and other required documentation.
  • Experience leading teams in technical development projects.
  • Experience in military vehicle development and integration.
  • Ability to interpret higher level customer requirements and translate them into technology requirements.
  • Experience developing and managing system-level cyber requirements.
  • Familiarity with electrical line replaceable units and development and troubleshooting of electronic hardware.
  • Experience with cyber warfare, offensive and/or defensive capabilities.
  • Experience with embedded systems, automotive and military contexts.
  • Experience with software and computer science principles.
  • Familiarity with cyber physical system security requirements.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project).

Position Type

Long-term contract with no fixed end date. Conversion to direct hire may occur as early as six months, depending on performance and business needs. While conversion is not guaranteed, it is a common outcome for high-performing contractors.

Location

Sterling Heights, Michigan onsite.

Candidate Eligibility and Security

  • This role is open only to US Citizens. Permanent Residents and other work authorizations are not permitted; eligibility to obtain a secret clearance is required.
  • Clearance is not required to start, but eligibility must be established. A secret clearance is required to obtain the role.
  • Travel may be required; a drug screen (including cannabis) and a background check may be required.
  • Height and weight restrictions may apply for access to military vehicles (ASR test): height under 6'4" and weight under 260 lbs.

Work Environment

  • Standard daytime shift with potential occasional overtime; overtime paid at 1.5x.
  • Occasional weekend work as needed.
  • Domestic travel up to 15%, with some international travel possible.
  • Offer may be contingent upon drug screen and background check.
  • Ability to climb on/off and work around military vehicles; ASR requirements may apply.
