Senior Cybersecurity Architect
Job Description
Leidos is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Architect to deliver cybersecurity engineering and architecture support for an Air Force weapons system program at a DoD weapons system environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute enterprise cybersecurity strategies aligned with DoD and Federal security guidance.
- Design and implement resilient security architectures to address modern cyber threats.
- Architect and implement secure cloud infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Define and enforce cloud security policies, standards, and automation frameworks.
- Support Authorization to Operate (ATO) activities across multiple environments and classification levels.
- Integrate security controls into CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows.
- Support cloud identity and access management (ICAM), including encryption and key management systems.
- Configure, tune, and monitor enterprise security tools and platforms.
- Monitor network and system security to detect vulnerabilities and support incident response.
- Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for identified risks.
- Partner with IT teams to ensure security measures are integrated into infrastructure projects.
- Develop and implement security policies, standards, and procedures to protect sensitive information.
- Provide technical guidance and support for cybersecurity tools and technologies.
- Track emerging threats and industry trends to improve the organization’s security posture.
- Create and refine technical documentation to obtain and maintain DoD accreditation for program systems.
- Participate in the Change Control Board (CCB) process for major engineering milestones and decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with 12+ years of experience, or Master’s Degree with 10+ years of experience (additional equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of education).
- US Citizen with an active Top Secret clearance and ability to obtain and maintain SCI prior to start.
- Proven background in cybersecurity engineering or closely related roles.
- Hands-on enterprise experience configuring security tools, with emphasis on:
- Splunk (Enterprise Security, SOAR, UBA)
- HBSS/ESS (Trellix ePO)
- ACAS (Tenable/Nessus)
- SolarWinds Observability
- Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity frameworks, including Risk Management Framework (RMF).
- Strong knowledge of network security, firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, and encryption technologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- DoD 8140 advanced certifications (CISM, CISSP, ISSAP).
Preferred Qualifications
- Project management certifications (PMP, ISSMP, etc.).
- Microsoft Azure certifications (AZ-500, AZ-305, etc.).
- Working knowledge of cloud security and securing cloud-based infrastructure.
- Experience with Azure Stack Hub/Azure Local.
- Experience securing classified DoD networks, including networks connected to SIPR or JWICS.
- Familiarity with incident response processes and tools.
- Experience with scripting or automation tools for security tasks.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Experience with Agile and DevSecOps.

Pay Range: USD 131,300 - 237,350 per yearly
