Security Engineer
Job Description
This role is responsible for strengthening the security posture of banking systems while supporting high availability and ongoing regulatory compliance. You will work closely with IT professionals to safeguard network and data assets, implement security controls, and address security incidents.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement security protocols to protect banking systems and sensitive data.
- Perform regular security audits and risk assessments to identify gaps and prioritize improvements.
- Develop and maintain security tools including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption technologies.
- Monitor network traffic for unusual activity and respond to security breaches.
- Provide guidance on security best practices and compliance requirements.
- Anticipate security alerts, incidents, and disasters to reduce their likelihood.
- Analyze and respond to security events to determine root cause, including participating in an on-call rotation and providing after-hours support when appropriate.
- Recommend and install appropriate tools and countermeasures.
- Define, implement, and maintain corporate security policies.
- Train employees on security awareness and established security procedures.
- Coordinate security plans with outside vendors.
- Partner with IT Management on the annual security budget.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Certifications
- GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC) are preferred.
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
- Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).
