Job Description

Security Analyst - SOC role within PNC's Technology organization, focused on SIEM/EDR operations and incident response, onsite in Birmingham, AL with a Sunday through Thursday shift from 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm EST.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, respond to, and mitigate alerts from the SIEM and security toolset (NGFWs, IDS/IPS, antivirus, WAFs, NAC, EDR, and related products).
  • Utilize security technologies such as SIEM and EDR to monitor and respond to threats.
  • Tune SIEM event generation to reduce false positives and improve detection quality.
  • Extract IOCs and behavioral traits from malicious samples and apply appropriate mitigations (sandboxing).
  • Scope events to determine accurate remediation actions and ownership.
  • Demonstrate subject matter expertise across SOC functions and contribute to ongoing operations.
  • Provide operational support for the organization as a security function representative.
  • Deliver technical evaluation and analysis; support processes, tools, and activities to strengthen security posture.
  • Apply security concepts, review information, execute tasks, analyze requirements, review logs, and document findings; perform investigations, data loss prevention, and coordination of activities; implement controls as needed.
  • Advise on complex security procedures and products for clients, security administrators, and network operations; contribute to enforcing controls and sharing knowledge with staff.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and information security routines; investigate and recommend corrective actions per established guidelines.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Bachelor's degree required.

Pay Transparency

Base salary: $75,000 – $125,000 per year. Salaries may vary by geographic location, market data, and individual skills, experience, and education. This role is eligible for performance-based incentives.
