Penetration Tester
Job Description
A penetration tester supporting authorized security assessments to identify, validate, and document vulnerabilities in MODES III systems and cloud environments, aligned with Government cybersecurity requirements; active Top Secret clearance and DoD-focused certifications are required.
Salary: USD 86,000 - 119,000 per year. Location: Alexandria, VA (onsite). Education: BS/BA degree. Experience: minimum 5 years.
Responsibilities
- Aids in conducting authorized penetration tests across MODES III systems, applications, and cloud environments to uncover security weaknesses.
- Supports planning, scoping, and execution of penetration testing activities in coordination with government stakeholders and senior cybersecurity staff.
- Performs hands-on testing tasks, including exploiting vulnerabilities, validating findings, and verifying remediation, in line with approved engagements and security policies.
- Records testing results, findings, and supporting evidence to inform formal reports and risk documentation.
- Supports remediation validation and retesting to verify closure of identified vulnerabilities and reduced risk.
- Adheres to established ethical hacking standards, testing methodologies, and reporting procedures to ensure compliant, repeatable testing.
Requirements
- Top Secret clearance required or ability to obtain and maintain one.
- Holds or is pursuing DoD-appropriate offensive security certifications such as CEH, PenTest+, GPEN, OSCP, or equivalent DoD 8570/8140-approved credentials.
- Education: BS/BA degree.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in penetration testing or related security fields.
