Job Description

In this onsite role, you will lead physical security systems engineering for complex hyperscale data center construction, acting as a senior technical authority across design, build, commissioning, and operational handover. You will ensure systems align with OCI standards and are ready for acceptance by security and operations teams.

Role Overview

Serve as the Lead Principal Physical Security Systems Engineer for hyperscale data center construction projects. You will coordinate technical reviews, manage integration risk, and oversee security integrators and contractors through installation and testing. The position is based in Michigan onsite at the new hyperscale facility in Saline Township.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review security designs, drawings, specifications, submittals, and installation details for completeness and constructability.
  • Identify design gaps, integration risks, and operational concerns, then guide practical solutions for field execution.
  • Oversee security integrators and contractors through installation, configuration, testing, and formal turnover.
  • Monitor project scope, schedule, quality, vendor performance, and change orders related to physical security systems.
  • Coordinate deployment of access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, intercom, badging, and perimeter security with site networks, monitoring platforms, and operational processes.
  • Review inspection records, test plans, device schedules, and closeout documents for readiness and compliance.
  • Participate in field inspections and functional testing, and track deficiencies through to resolution.
  • Confirm physical security systems are tested, documented, and prepared for acceptance by OCI security and operations teams.
  • Communicate readiness status, open risks, and decisions required by project leadership.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of design standards, installation practices, testing procedures, and turnover requirements across projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Significant experience designing, delivering, or managing physical security systems in data centers, mission-critical facilities, large campuses, or similarly secure environments.
  • Strong knowledge of access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, intercom systems, perimeter security, and security monitoring platforms.
  • Experience reviewing construction drawings, specifications, submittals, device schedules, and commissioning documentation.
  • Understanding of low-voltage construction, structured cabling, device installation, labeling, testing, and system integration.
  • Proven ability to manage integrators, contractors, and vendors while coordinating with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to identify technical, quality, and schedule risks and communicate clearly with field teams and leadership.
  • Experience reviewing vendor scope, change orders, pricing, and schedule impacts.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, information technology, security management, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Ability to travel as needed for project delivery and site reviews.

  • Experience with large campuses, high-density data halls, or projects with phased construction and operational handovers.
  • Familiarity with enterprise access control, video management, intrusion detection, badging, visitor management, and security operations platforms.
  • Experience integrating security systems with networks, building systems, life safety systems, and centralized monitoring.
  • Knowledge of commissioning, integrated systems testing, deficiency tracking, and operational acceptance.
  • Experience working with general contractors, security integrators, low-voltage contractors, design consultants, commissioning agents, and owner’s representatives.
  • Experience developing security standards, installation details, inspection checklists, test scripts, or turnover documentation.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes, regional requirements, and secure facility operations.
