Lead Engineer Cyber AI - Cybersecurity
Job Description
As Lead Engineer on Target's Cybersecurity AI Activation and Engineering team, you will architect and deliver AI-enabled cybersecurity solutions, shepherd proofs of concept, and provide cross-functional technical leadership. This hybrid role is based in Brooklyn Park, MN, with a salary range of USD 132,000 to 238,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary technical lead for engineering initiatives within the Cybersecurity AI Activation and Engineering group.
- Design, own, and ensure that solutions and proofs of concept meet both functional and non-functional requirements.
- Deliver outcomes with a customer-centric focus.
- Architect complete solutions independently when appropriate, while extending impact by guiding broader teams as a force multiplier.
- Collaborate closely with cybersecurity teams to understand current applications, architectures, and operational workflows.
- Contribute to new AI powered capabilities aligned with Target standards.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and participate in decision making, offering guidance on viability within Target's environment, maintainability, and total cost of ownership.
- Initiate and conduct research and proofs of concept for new technologies.
- Collaborate across teams to promote reuse and establish scalable, consistent design patterns through thought leadership.
- Engage in planning activities with broad organizational impact.
- Contribute to foundational capabilities that enable AI or machine learning activities.
- Lead and participate in complex development, automation, and deployment efforts, ensuring implementations meet architectural and operational requirements.
- Interface with cyber teams on their projects, contributing to requirements, workflows, and designs.
- Assess project progress against objectives for rapidly developed proofs of concept that address peer-team challenges.
- Provide patterns, templates, guidance, and influence data standards, policies, and procedures.
Requirements
- Demonstrated history of rapid prototyping, development, and iterative delivery with close coordination with internal customers.
- Proficiency in Python with demonstrated delivery of production-grade software solutions.
- Experience and enthusiasm for AI and ML solutions.
- Experience in workflow and process automation.
- Experience in security operations, incident response, threat detection, application security, or penetration testing.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Seven or more years of software development experience, including at least one full cycle implementation.
- Strong domain knowledge of Target’s technology capabilities and awareness of competitor products and differentiators.
- Broad and deep expertise across multiple programming languages and frameworks; designs, develops, and approves end-to-end functionality for a product line, platform, or infrastructure.
- Effective communication and coordination with project teams, partners, and stakeholders.
- Expertise in analyzing and optimizing system capacity, performance, and operational health.
- Understanding of and ability to develop solutions for data lifecycle management.
- Maintains deep technical knowledge within areas of expertise.
- Keeps up to date with evolving technologies through formal training and self-directed learning.
- Experience building highly scalable distributed systems.
