Junior Naval Systems Security Engineer
Job Description
Dahlgren, VA (onsite) and an opportunity to support Navy surface major weapon, combat, and/or fire control systems through systems security engineering. This Junior Naval Systems Security Engineer role at Amentum focuses on protecting critical technologies through strong documentation, requirements, and the integration of hardware and software security measures.
What You Can Expect
You will assist with systems, technical, and security engineering methodologies and services, contributing to secure system design and integration. The work centers on Systems Security Engineering (SSE) and Program Protection documentation, including requirements derivation and coordination of impacts across internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Support the development, integration, and management of complex Naval surface weapons and combat defense systems.
- Create system design and system integration documentation for weapons control systems and surface combat, control, and/or situational awareness systems.
- Design and implement SSE measures and techniques intended to prevent or delay unauthorized access to critical technologies.
- Integrate hardware and software protection into major weapons, combat, and/or fire control systems to deter exploitation.
- Develop Program Protection Plans (PPP) and other security-related documentation.
- Perform requirements derivation, allocation, and management for weapon control systems and external interfaces.
- Coordinate impacts of proposed system changes with internal and external organizations and system stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline.
- Two (2) years of experience in an engineering/science discipline, OR two (2) years of experience in program analysis in one or more of the following areas: major weapon, combat, and/or fire control systems programs; requirements definition; system design parameters; concepts of operation; risk assessment; producibility studies/analyses; performance analyses; test and evaluation; or post-delivery support.
- Must have an active Secret U.S. Government clearance. Note: U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a Secret clearance.

Compensation
US: $90,000 to $105,000 per year.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Systems Security Engineering (SSE) measures and techniques.
- Demonstrated experience working within AEGIS Combat System environments, including familiarity with AEGIS system architecture, integration, testing, operations, or lifecycle support.
- Experience with DoDI 5000.02, DoDI 5000.83, DoDI 5200.39, DoDI 5200.44, and DoDI 5200.47E.
