Cybersecurity Systems Engineer III
Job Description
Data Intelligence LLC is hiring a Cybersecurity Systems Engineer III to support the development and sustainment of the U.S. Navy Aegis Weapon System in an onsite engineering environment in Moorestown, NJ. In this role, you will integrate cybersecurity throughout the systems engineering lifecycle by mapping RMF and NIST requirements into system architecture, verification plans, and risk documentation.
You will work across engineering disciplines to help ensure cybersecurity requirements are built into the system early, validated through appropriate test and acceptance criteria, and maintained with clear traceability from control interpretation through engineering artifacts and technical reviews.
Responsibilities
- Develop, analyze, decompose, and maintain cybersecurity requirements, including end-to-end traceability across the engineering lifecycle.
- Interpret and translate Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NIST SP 800-53 security controls into actionable system and functional requirements.
- Develop and maintain cybersecurity architecture documentation, system models, and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) artifacts.
- Evaluate system designs, interfaces, and proposed modifications to identify cybersecurity risks and impacts.
- Apply cybersecurity concepts, technologies, and security controls to system architecture and engineering design.
- Create verification approaches, test objectives, and acceptance criteria to validate cybersecurity requirements.
- Support system integration, testing, troubleshooting, and resolution of cybersecurity-related engineering issues.
- Conduct cybersecurity risk assessments and prepare associated technical documentation.
- Collaborate with software, systems, network, cybersecurity, and test engineering teams to resolve technical challenges.
- Support technical reviews and the creation of engineering documentation for complex, mission-critical systems.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship and an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance. An Interim Secret may be acceptable to start, pending confirmation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of related systems engineering experience, including at least 2 years of professional cybersecurity or cybersecurity systems engineering experience.
- Experience developing, decomposing, managing, and tracing technical requirements.
- Experience applying cybersecurity principles and controls to system design, architecture, implementation, and verification.
- Knowledge of RMF and NIST SP 800-53, including interpreting security controls for technical implementation.
- Experience using requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS Next Generation (DNG) or an equivalent tool.
- Experience with MBSE and modeling tools such as Cameo, Rhapsody, or equivalents.
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity technologies and concepts, including Zero Trust Architecture, SIEM, next-generation firewalls, identity and access management, and network security.
- Experience developing verification criteria, test objectives, or validation methods for cybersecurity requirements.
- Familiarity with Windows operating environments and interactions between operating systems, applications, networks, and security controls.
- CompTIA Security+ or another qualifying DoD 8570 IAT/IAM Level II or higher approved certification.
- Ability to work independently in on-site engineering and laboratory environments.
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
