Job Description

Public notice for IT Specialist (INFOSEC/APPSW) to develop and implement security throughout the system lifecycle, configure security controls, assess systems for compliance, and manage cybersecurity authorization packages.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure security requirements and practices are integrated across the system engineering lifecycle and ongoing maintenance of solutions and applications.
  • Deploy and tune host and network firewalls, logging, and IPS/IDS to the required security level.
  • Evaluate systems for gaps in business requirements, functionality, or policy compliance and document remediation steps.
  • Procure, manage, and allocate resources to initiate and refresh cybersecurity authorization packages.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Suitability for federal employment must be established.
  • Participation in the direct deposit pay program is required.
  • New Department of the Navy hires must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check (visit e-verify.gov for details).
  • Appointments of retirees within 180 days of retirement to a civilian position follow 5 U.S.C. 3326.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employees applying for STRL jobs typically must complete one year at the next lower grade level.

  • Cyberspace Workforce position, code 612, with ADVANCED proficiency; must qualify and maintain DoD 8140.03 Cyber Workforce qualifications and Navy policies.
  • Resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or above GS-12/pay band level, or equivalent, with duties including managing day-to-day security posture, maintaining compliance documentation, and coordinating continuous monitoring of a RMF authorized system.
