Job Description
Public notice for IT Specialist (INFOSEC/APPSW) to develop and implement security throughout the system lifecycle, configure security controls, assess systems for compliance, and manage cybersecurity authorization packages.
Responsibilities
- Ensure security requirements and practices are integrated across the system engineering lifecycle and ongoing maintenance of solutions and applications.
- Deploy and tune host and network firewalls, logging, and IPS/IDS to the required security level.
- Evaluate systems for gaps in business requirements, functionality, or policy compliance and document remediation steps.
- Procure, manage, and allocate resources to initiate and refresh cybersecurity authorization packages.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Suitability for federal employment must be established.
- Participation in the direct deposit pay program is required.
- New Department of the Navy hires must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check (visit e-verify.gov for details).
- Appointments of retirees within 180 days of retirement to a civilian position follow 5 U.S.C. 3326.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

- Must obtain and maintain interim and final security clearances prior to entry on duty; failure to do so can affect offers or employment.

- May require travel to CONUS/OCONUS sites and remote/isolated locations; capable of air travel for extended periods.
- Cyberspace Workforce position, code 612, with ADVANCED proficiency; must qualify and maintain DoD 8140.03 Cyber Workforce qualifications and Navy policies.
- Resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or above GS-12/pay band level, or equivalent, with duties including managing day-to-day security posture, maintaining compliance documentation, and coordinating continuous monitoring of a RMF authorized system.
