IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC)
Job Description
The IT Specialist (INFOSEC) role at the Hopper Global Communications Center in Suitland, MD provides guidance, policies, and oversight for day-to-day security operations as a forward deployed RISSM for IA/IS/Cyber Security including SCI systems.
Responsibilities
- Guide program requirements and objectives by delivering governance, policies, and oversight for daily security operations supporting command Information Assurance Managers (IAM).
- Enforce and implement Information Security, Assurance, and Cyber Security directives for Navy and Marine Corps SCI customers.
- Prepare detailed reports on Information Assurance requirements, compliance posture, security incidents or violations, and maintain relevant databases in line with policies and procedures.
- Deliver comprehensive Information Assurance Security and Incident Response training to personnel responsible for Sensitive Compartmented Information systems.
- Support the Privilege User (PU) and Authorized-to-Operate (ATO) process by ensuring requests are submitted and processed promptly.
- Monitor daily Information System Security Manager related databases and queues, such as Quick Media Requests (QMR), and provide status updates to the Hopper ISSM.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Determination of suitability for federal employment is required.
- Participation in the direct deposit pay program is required.
- New Department of the Navy employees must successfully pass E-Verify employment verification.
- Must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required; random testing may occur.
- Must acknowledge in writing an appointment in the DCIPS (excepted service) prior to appointment.
- Within the DoD, appointment of retired military members within 180 days after retirement is subject to 5 USC 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Periodic polygraph examination is required.
- Position may require a 2-year DCIPS trial period.
- Some travel may be required.
- Designation as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position in specialty area 722 - Information Systems Security Manager - Cybersecurity Management.
- Compliance with DON Cyber IT/CSWF Program requirements (SECNAV M-5239.2), including:
- Earn and maintain credentials from the Cyber IT/CSWF Qualification Matrix corresponding to the duties of this position.
- Participate in a continuous learning program as described in SECNAVINST 1543.2.
- Complete at least 40 hours of Cyber IT/CSWF related continuous learning annually, documented in a current individual development plan signed by the employee and supervisor.
