Job Description

The IT Specialist (INFOSEC) position is onsite in Naperville, IL across NRC organizations, requires U.S. citizenship, uses Direct Hire Authority for the 2210 series, and carries a salary range of USD 100,059 - 158,322 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Perform independent analyses of major information processes and operations, advise on the use of cutting edge systems to improve efficiency, assess requirements, contribute to final technical decisions, and recommend actions for management consideration.
  • Research state of the art information technology options including software, hardware, networks, and devices; analyze findings and develop recommendations, coordinating improvements from concept to implementation.
  • Analyze complex program needs to determine IT, telecommunications, and audiovisual requirements; produce specifications and configure hardware, software, and networks accordingly.
  • Develop policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability, accessibility, and protection against unauthorized access.
  • Conduct risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities and protection needs.
  • Raise security awareness among leadership and ensure security principles align with organizational goals.
  • Carry out system security evaluations, audits, and reviews.
  • Develop system security contingency plans and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Create and implement programs that ensure users understand and follow system security policies and procedures.
  • Participate in network and systems design to ensure appropriate security controls are implemented.
  • Assist in gathering, analyzing, and preserving evidence used in prosecuting computer crimes.
  • Assess security events to determine impact and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure rigorous application of information security and information assurance policies in the delivery of IT services.
  • Architect, design, and manage the implementation of security solutions for AI systems and applications.
  • Apply management processes and performance based acquisition principles to support the agency's transition of a CUI program from SUNSI to the CUI framework.
  • Lead the strategic and operational rollout of cyber supply chain risk management, manage the agency's SCRM risk register and solutions intake, and facilitate communication between CIO and CISO to identify and mitigate enterprise risks.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Drug testing required for this position.
  • May be subject to Confidential Financial Disclosure reporting requirements and security ownership restriction reporting requirements.
  • Must be able to meet and maintain security and suitability requirements.
  • One to two year trial period to assess fitness and public interest considerations for continued employment.
  • Applicants will be evaluated under the Office of Personnel Management IT Management Series 2210 standards; the grade level sets minimum experience or education requirements.
  • This position is being filled using Direct Hire Authority.
  • To qualify, at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector is required.
  • GG-12 specialized experience includes knowledge of information systems security methods and procedures to apply appropriate security measures, plus experience analyzing data, troubleshooting, evaluating methods, and performing analytical functions, demonstrated by multiple alternative approaches.
  • GG-13 specialized experience includes knowledge of information systems security methods and procedures to apply appropriate security measures, plus experience analyzing data, troubleshooting, evaluating methods, and performing analytical functions, demonstrated by multiple alternative approaches.
  • Ideal candidate attributes include knowledge of IT information security program development, policies, procedures, and tools; familiarity with IT infrastructure and security functions; awareness of new IT technologies; strong customer support and requirements gathering skills; and experience with program and project management for IT systems and services.
