Job Description

The Information Technology Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC) role supports a Program Office within TEAMSUB under the US Naval Sea Systems Command. This onsite position is based at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, DC, and aligns with the 2210 Information Technology Management series at the NH 4 pay grade.

Location: Washington Navy Yard, DC (onsite).

Series / Pay Grade: 2210 Information Technology Management, NH 4.

Salary range: $143,913 to $197,200 per year.

Appointment type: Permanent.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an IT Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC) within a Program Office under TEAMSUB.
  • Develop and implement cybersecurity strategies to protect information systems from threats.
  • Monitor networks and systems for security incidents, analyze potential threats, and respond to mitigate risks.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards such as FISMA and RMF guidelines.
  • Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and audits to evaluate the effectiveness of security measures and recommend enhancements.
  • Collaborate with program office personnel and stakeholders to address security concerns and foster a culture of security awareness.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizen required.
  • Determination of suitability for federal employment.
  • Participation in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New Department of the Navy employees must pass E-Verify.
  • Appointment of retired DoD members within 180 days after retirement is subject to 5 U.S.C. 3326.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • Cyberspace Workforce position codes 722, 752, 802 with Intermediate proficiency; qualify and maintain DoD 8140.03 Cyber Workforce qualifications.
  • Covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA); certification in the assigned Functional Area and Tier, with Continuous Learning points within required timeframes.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test; random testing will occur.
  • At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to NH-03 (GS-13) in the federal service or equivalent in public or private sectors.
  • Experience demonstrating cybersecurity expertise, threat monitoring and incident management, regulatory compliance knowledge, proficiency with security tools, and strong problem solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
