Job Description

Leidos is seeking a Secret cleared Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to support the United States Space Force. In this remote role based in Colorado Springs, CO, you will help secure and operate a hybrid Azure cloud environment, applying security design and governance aligned to DoD, NIST, and RMF expectations.

The position focuses on building hardened configurations, performing risk management, supporting compliance and auditing activities (including ATO processes), and ensuring strong detection and response capabilities through continuous monitoring.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain security solutions for a hybrid Azure cloud environment while meeting DoD, NIST, and RMF standards.
  • Harden environments and apply security controls across network devices, servers, and cloud components to reduce threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Perform risk assessments, develop and update security policies, and implement controls to mitigate identified risks.
  • Ensure systems and processes align with federal and military requirements, including FISMA, RMF, and DISA STIGs; assist with audits and ATO processes.
  • Support incident response activities including detection, analysis, and resolution of security incidents in cloud environments.
  • Create and maintain security documentation such as system security plans, security impact analyses, and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with system administrators, network engineers, and software developers to integrate security throughout IT operations.
  • Implement and manage continuous monitoring to promptly detect and respond to security issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 4-8 years of experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance, with the ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
  • At least 4 years of cybersecurity experience, including 3 years in cloud security (preferably Azure).
  • Experience with the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) process.
  • CISSP, CISM, or a comparable security certification.
  • Strong knowledge of network security, identity and access management, and encryption technologies.
  • Experience using scripting (such as PowerShell) to automate security tasks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and communicate with stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

  • Azure security certifications, for example Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate.
  • Proficiency with Azure security services including Azure Security Center, Azure Sentinel, Azure AD, and Azure Information Protection.
