Job Description

Pace University in Pleasantville, New York is seeking an Information Security Analyst to help defend the university’s digital infrastructure. The role combines hands-on security operations with automation, threat monitoring, and compliance work, collaboration with ITS, and delivering security awareness training. This is a hybrid position with on-site presence required several days each week, and a salary range of USD 100,000 to 105,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage programming skills to automate workflows, develop incident response playbooks, work with APIs, and troubleshoot within SOAR environments.
  • Design and optimize searches using query and scripting languages to support security investigations and threat hunting across SIEM, EDR, and analytics platforms.
  • Monitor, investigate, and respond to security incidents using SIEM and analytics tools.
  • Address information security service requests promptly according to priority.
  • Configure, implement, and validate various security systems and technologies.
  • Manage host firewalls to restrict access to critical ports and services.
  • Administer endpoint privilege management controls.
  • Track and remediate vulnerabilities using vulnerability management solutions.
  • Occasionally employ Red Team tools in an ethical manner, including those found in Kali Linux.
  • Support ongoing security risk assessments, scanning, intrusion detection, monitoring, and remediation efforts.
  • Research current security technologies, trends, legislation, threats, and solutions to inform practice.
  • Deliver and administer security awareness training to faculty, staff, and students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Security, or a related field.
  • Strong programming ability (preferably Python) to support automation workflows, playbook development, and SOAR troubleshooting.
  • Ability to write and optimize searches in SIEM and security analytics platforms using query or scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with APIs and modular functions used in security automation tools.
  • Experience with SIEM technologies and interpreting device event logs to identify anomalies in enterprise environments.
  • Proficiency in incident response and threat hunting using EDR, SIEM, and firewall tools.
  • Ability to test, configure, and deploy endpoint privilege management controls and host firewalls to reduce the attack surface.
  • Ability to interpret and report vulnerabilities using standard industry tools.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory (AD), Group Policy Objects (GPO), and enterprise device/app management.
  • Knowledge of the OSI model and tools such as Wireshark and Nmap.
  • Basic understanding of free cybersecurity tools used for offensive and defensive purposes (e.g., Kali Linux).
  • General awareness of cybersecurity trends, application and device management, and vulnerability management practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information diplomatically.
  • Strong analytical abilities and a demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Supervision Exercised

The Analyst contributes to implementing a university-wide information security program and may supervise student employees as needed.

Work Hours

Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional evenings, overnights, and weekends. On-call rotations are required to respond to security events outside regular hours. The role is based on Pace's Pleasantville campus and requires on-site presence several days per week as part of a hybrid arrangement.
