Job Description

Student Assistants in Georgia Tech Research Institute’s CIPHER lab will support cybersecurity research during Spring 2027. Assignments will be matched to the work needs of the lab and to each student’s skills and interests.

Role Scope

Across multiple core research areas, Student Assistants will help advance projects that include embedded and cyber-physical security, software assurance, hardware trust, and analytical efforts related to threats. Work will be directed through assigned tasking and tailored based on individual capability and interest.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform assessments of embedded and cyber-physical systems
  • Conduct reverse engineering and vulnerability analysis of embedded systems
  • Work on assured software, algorithms, and information
  • Support hardware security and trust
  • Engage in quantum computing and sensing efforts
  • Contribute to resilient command and control systems
  • Support secure software systems
  • Perform threat analytics
  • Complete student tasking based on the nature of assigned work, as well as each student’s skillset and interest

Required Education and Enrollment

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Must be registered for at least 6 credit hours with your university
  • 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA

Location and Schedule

  • Location: Atlanta, GA (onsite)
  • Hours per week: 8–20 hours per week
