Job Description

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is hiring a Cybersecurity Systems Engineer (Level 1/2) in San Diego, CA to support vulnerability assessment, cybersecurity impact evaluation, and authorization-related documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve complex technical issues using cybersecurity concepts and analysis
  • Review and interpret results from static code analysis
  • Complete Cybersecurity Impact Appraisals/Evaluations for hardware and software projects
  • Generate and maintain artifacts used for Air Force authorization decisions
  • Conduct system vulnerability scans using tools such as ACAS and STIGs
  • Perform manual STIG / SRG verifications across disparate equipment types
  • Collect and evaluate findings from STIG/SRG verification activities

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field
  • Level 1/2 experience pathway:
    • 0 years relevant military or professional experience with the STEM bachelor’s degree
    • OR 2 years relevant military or professional experience with the STEM bachelor’s degree
    • OR Master’s degree in a STEM field with 0 years relevant military or professional experience
  • Experience in cybersecurity
  • Ability to obtain or maintain a U.S. Government Secret (or higher) clearance
  • Background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled in Continuous Evaluation
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time based on business needs

Preferred Qualifications

  • CSSLP, CISSP, CEH, or Security+
  • Foundational knowledge and experience with core systems engineering principles, including:
    • Requirements development, allocation, and traceability
    • Verification and validation planning and execution
    • Engineering Change Processes
  • Experience performing cybersecurity impact assessments during design changes, capability upgrades, and/or baseline reviews
  • Experience performing system vulnerability scans using ACAS and automated STIG tools such as Evaluate STIG or Security Compliance Checker
  • Experience with networking technologies, including router and switch configurations, troubleshooting, and security or vulnerability assessments
  • An active U.S. government Secret clearance or higher (with background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)

Compensation

  • Primary level range: USD 83,800 - 125,800 per year
  • Secondary level range: USD 101,000 - 151,400 per year

  • Location: San Diego, CA (onsite)
  • Travel: Yes, 25% of the time
