Cybersecurity Program Director
Job Description
The Cybersecurity Program Director will lead cybersecurity strategy and execution for General Dynamics Information Technology within the NASA Business Area. This role supports an expanding NASA portfolio by providing governance, risk management, architecture, engineering, and operational oversight, while ensuring alignment with Federal, NIST, and NASA requirements.
Working onsite in Los Angeles, CA, you will serve as a trusted advisor to internal teams and NASA customers, translating security risk into practical priorities and measurable improvements that support mission needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain trust with customers by delivering consistent, high-quality cybersecurity outcomes and transparent communication.
- Set realistic stakeholder expectations by clearly communicating risk, compliance posture, and mitigation strategies.
- Act as the primary cybersecurity advisor and point of contact for internal teams and NASA customers, providing clear, risk-based recommendations across priorities, investments, threats, and program impacts.
- Align cybersecurity execution with NASA standards, policies, and the NASA Community.
- Use a consultative approach to identify emerging threats, recommend strategic improvements, and implement actionable, measurable security enhancements.
- Strengthen customer experience by ensuring secure service delivery aligned to NASA mission needs and enterprise security expectations.
- Develop, maintain, and oversee cybersecurity strategy, program plans, and security architecture supporting NASA missions.
- Direct cybersecurity operations, engineering, and incident response teams to ensure effective execution of NASA and federal security requirements.
- Proactively identify security risks, vulnerabilities, and emerging threats, adjusting program plans and defenses to maintain compliance and resilience.
- Ensure security deliverables meet quality standards and comply with NASA, NIST, federal cybersecurity frameworks, and regulatory guidelines.
- Track, analyze, and report cybersecurity metrics, risks, and program performance using data-driven insights.
- Oversee continuous monitoring, incident response, audit readiness, and enterprise risk management activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of total experience in cyber leadership or enterprise cybersecurity program management.
- Extensive experience working within the NASA environment and developing cybersecurity solutions tailored to NASA mission needs.
- Strong oral, written, and presentation skills, including the ability to explain complex cybersecurity concepts to executives and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven experience managing customer relationships in high-visibility federal programs.
- Experience leading and mentoring remote enterprise cybersecurity teams, including performance management and skill development.
- Experience developing cybersecurity strategies, tracking cyber metrics, supporting audits, and delivering training or demonstrations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead adoption of new cyber technologies, drive operational excellence, and exceed expectations in enterprise cyber environments.
- Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate government security clearances.

The likely salary range for this position is USD 147,292 - 199,278 per year.
