Job Description

Fidelity Life Association is seeking a security operations leader to oversee day-to-day protection of its cloud, SaaS, and legacy environments. This hybrid role is based in Des Plaines, IL and focuses on incident response leadership, vulnerability management, and continuous improvement across operational security workflows. You will also advise technology and business teams on risk, while reporting security metrics and trends that inform corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead security operations: Set operational priorities, coach the team, refine playbooks, and drive measurable remediation outcomes.
  • Manage incident response: Direct detection, containment, recovery, escalation, and post-incident reviews in coordination with technical, legal, compliance, and business partners.
  • Secure cloud, SaaS, and legacy platforms: Strengthen IAM, logging, monitoring, DLP, posture management, threat detection, access controls, and audit readiness across environments.
  • Oversee vulnerability management: Lead scanning, apply risk-based prioritization, manage remediation tracking, handle exceptions with compensating controls, and validate results.
  • Advise technology and business teams: Assess risk, support secure design, and translate security findings into practical business decisions.
  • Report metrics and risk: Track service levels, key risk indicators, incident trends, remediation performance, capacity, and corrective actions.

Requirements

  • Experience: 7+ years of progressive cybersecurity experience, including cybersecurity operations and AWS security, with 2+ years leading technical professionals.
  • Operational hands-on work: Experience with incident response, vulnerability management, remediation tracking, and operational security workflows.
  • Decision-making: Strong judgment for prioritization, resource management, vendor performance, and risk-based decisions.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: USD 140,000 - 180,000 per year

Essential Functions

  • Work remotely using reliable internet and standard office technology.
  • If located in Chicago, Waco, Dallas, or Austin, be able to work from satellite offices a few times a month.
  • Review alerts, reports, logs, and technical documentation.
  • Communicate clearly through email, meetings, reports, and presentations.
  • Support urgent security incidents, manage priorities, and protect sensitive information.

Remote work is not available in California, Colorado, Connecticut, and New York.
