Cybersecurity Engineer Senior (TS with SCI eligibility required)

This hybrid role in Bossier City, Louisiana supports the U.S. Department of State through hands-on security engineering, oversight of key security tooling, and active participation in risk management and incident response.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and supervise security tools such as Tenable, Splunk, McAfee, and related solutions.
• Review, test, recommend, coordinate, monitor, and maintain cybersecurity policies, procedures, and systems, including infrastructure and access management for hardware, firmware, and software.
• Ensure security plans, controls, standards, and procedures align with established cybersecurity standards.
• Identify security risks and exposures, determine causes of violations, and propose mitigations to prevent recurrence and strengthen defenses.
• Develop procedures for cybersecurity risk assessments, compliance audits, and evaluation/testing of hardware, firmware and software for potential security impact; investigate and resolve incidents such as intrusions or leaks.
• Triages security events and coordinates with Incident Management, IT operations, network engineering, and application teams.
• Diagnose and analyze problems using historical data to isolate root causes.
• Participate in security engineering, system configuration validation, hardening, and assessment of classified information systems.
• Support security posture assessments and stay current on cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
• Develop, integrate, and maintain security toolsets while keeping management informed of recurring issues and trends.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of Tenable experience.
• 5+ years with endpoint protection software (examples include Symantec, McAfee, or CrowdStrike).
• 2+ years of Splunk experience.
• Experience with or the ability to learn ticketing and reporting processes.
• Familiarity with Linux and Windows environments or the ability to learn them.
• CompTIA Security+ Certification required or obtainable within 90 days of hire.

• Certification: CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent.
• Travel: Less than 10% travel required.

Salary and Benefits Information

The anticipated annual salary range is $88,130 to $115,000. Compensation is determined by experience, location, and contractual needs and may fall outside this range. Information about total rewards and benefits is available for review.
