Cybersecurity Consultant

Marion Counseling Services is seeking a Cybersecurity Consultant to help protect sensitive information and strengthen system resilience while supporting secure, reliable operations across the organization. This remote role in Jackson, MS focuses on identifying risk, improving security controls, and aligning practices with relevant compliance expectations.

As a cybersecurity consultant, you will assess potential threats, monitor security activity, and guide teams toward effective security policies and procedures. The role emphasizes practical hardening of systems, alert response, and collaboration across IT and other departments to enhance the overall security posture.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive risk assessments to uncover potential threats and vulnerabilities.
• Create and roll out security policies and procedures to support consistent protection.
• Monitor security systems and respond to alerts as they occur.
• Provide guidance on security best practices and compliance requirements.
• Work with IT and other departments to improve the organization’s security posture.

Requirements

• Proven experience in cybersecurity or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of security protocols, including firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards such as GDPR and ISO 27001.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP or CISM are a plus.
