Cybersecurity Analyst
Job Description
Join S1T in Albany, NY to help detect threats, reduce risk, and strengthen security controls across complex IT environments.
Responsibilities
- Monitor network traffic and security events using SIEM tooling to identify threats and anomalies.
- Perform vulnerability assessments and vulnerability research; recommend mitigation actions for identified weaknesses.
- Manage and configure firewalls including Cisco ASA to control access and protect network boundaries.
- Implement and maintain security protocols aligned with ISO 27001, ISO 27002, NIST, and other relevant frameworks to support compliance.
- Investigate security incidents using log analysis, IDS, IPS, and other cybersecurity tools.
- Execute risk management framework (RMF) activities including system security plans, security risk assessments, and incident response planning.
- Partner with IT infrastructure teams to harden systems, manage encryption protocols, and support cloud security engineering efforts across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
Requirements
- Strong networking fundamentals: LAN, WAN, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), IPsec VPNs, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP stack, and network architecture.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco ISE for identity management and access control; Cisco routers and Juniper network devices are a plus.
- Proficiency with operating systems: Windows, Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS), Debian, Solaris, macOS; familiarity with openSUSE or BSD is advantageous.
- Security engineering knowledge: SELinux system hardening, load balancing, high availability configurations, and disaster recovery planning.
- Experience with security tools: Splunk or SolarWinds (log analysis); Fiddler or Burp Suite (application security testing); Nmap (network scanning); PRTG (network monitoring); New Relic (performance insights).
- Encryption and identity capabilities: PKI (Public Key Infrastructure), SSO (Single Sign-On), LDAP authentication; FIPS familiarity improves fit.
- Ability to conduct vulnerability research and support vulnerability management workflows from assessment through remediation; knowledge of PCI DSS requirements is beneficial.
- Analytical strength in threat detection and response, incident management, and incident recovery procedures; familiarity with scripting automation using Python or Bash.
