Communications Systems Engineer - Offensive Security Engineer

SAIC is seeking a Communications Systems Engineer to provide onsite systems engineering and technical advisory (SETA) in support of an SAIC Prime Program at the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) in Chantilly, VA. This role combines offensive security support with communication, network, and crypto acquisition activities for multiple satellite programs, helping strengthen cybersecurity posture while supporting mission-focused development from planning through oversight.

Responsibilities

• Support the System Program Office (SPO) in an acquisition capacity, including planning, execution, monitoring, and oversight of communication, network, and crypto acquisitions
• Build, automate, and execute testing frameworks and security assessments
• Assist in resolving red/blue team findings
• Contribute to improved cybersecurity posture against evolving threats
• Develop documents and briefings communicating work or study status, and brief Government and industry as required
• Support Contract Officer Technical Representatives (COTRs) and Developers by coordinating with other acquisition domain SMEs and program stakeholders to develop, modify, and maintain contract documentation
• Review Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) deliverables to verify content, accuracy, and sufficiency against program requirements and objectives
• Participate in program reviews and technical interchange meetings between developers and COTR
• Travel required, occurring up to once a month

Requirements

• Education and experience:
  • Bachelors and 9+ years, or
  • Masters and 7+ years, or
  • PhD or JD and 4+ years
• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with Poly
• Experience with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and information security policies and standards
• Understanding and experience in how space communication, network, and crypto systems are designed, specified, developed, manufactured, and tested
• Familiarity with NRO organization, processes, and satellite systems
• Availability to travel up to 25% domestically

Compensation: USD 160,001 - 200,000 per year.

Location: Chantilly, VA, US (onsite).
