Application Security Engineer

Booz Allen Hamilton is seeking an Application Security Engineer to help strengthen national security through enterprise cloud and application and network security capabilities. This role emphasizes Zero Trust application and network security services, security controls, and supporting technologies in DoD environments.

Location and Work Model

Huntsville, AL (onsite).

Work will primarily be performed full-time at a customer facility, with collaboration alongside colleagues and customers as required by the role.

Role Summary

In this position, you will support Zero Trust application and network security initiatives by implementing security controls and related technologies. The work will focus on DoD environments and the security services that protect enterprise applications and networks.

Responsibilities

• Implement Zero Trust compliant application and network security services and controls.
• Apply next-generation firewall capabilities in support of application and network security.
• Use cryptography protocols and standards to support secure communication.
• Support application delivery technologies used in enterprise environments.
• Operate effectively within DoD enterprise networks, including environments that include DMZ and application security needs.

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience implementing Zero Trust compliant application and network security services and controls.
• 2+ years of experience with next-generation firewalls such as Palo Alto, Versa, Cisco, Fortinet, or Juniper.
• Knowledge of cryptography protocols and standards, including TLS, mTLS, hashing algorithms, or Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).
• Knowledge of application delivery products such as F5, Nginx, A10, or NetScaler.
• Ability to work within DoD enterprise networks, including defense infrastructure such as DMZ and application security.
• Secret clearance.
• HS diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with In-Line Break and Inspect solutions such as reverse web proxy and forward web proxy.
• Experience using Office 365 applications and Teams collaboration.
• Experience working in DoD Cloud and on-premises cloud environments.
• Knowledge of federal compliance standards, including NIST 800-53, FIPS, DoD STIG, and FedRAMP.

Clearance and Screening

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Secret clearance is required.

Compensation

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by factors including location, the individual’s education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements.

The projected compensation range is $99,000.00 to $225,000.00 (annualized USD). This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
