Application Security Engineer

Application Security Engineer duties center on DoD enterprise security architecture with emphasis on F5 BIG-IP, inline break-and-inspect proxies, TLS/mTLS, PKI, and cloud security modernization.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to DoD enterprise security architecture initiatives, aligning cloud modernization with mission needs.
• Design, deploy, and administer F5 BIG-IP platforms to support secure application delivery.
• Implement and manage inline break-and-inspect solutions, including reverse proxy and forward proxy configurations.
• Configure and troubleshoot TLS and mutual TLS on proxies to ensure strong authentication and encryption.
• Collaborate with DoD clients and stakeholders to troubleshoot issues within the enterprise architecture.
• Apply cryptographic knowledge of TLS, mTLS, hashing algorithms, and PKI to secure communications.
• Maintain secure, compliant environments as part of ongoing cloud security modernization efforts.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience supporting DoD enterprise architecture.
• 3+ years designing, implementing, and administering F5 BIG-IP.
• 3+ years implementing In-Line Break and Inspect solutions, including reverse and forward proxies.
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting TLS and mutual TLS on a proxy.
• Experience working with DoD clients and stakeholders to troubleshoot issues in an enterprise architecture.
• Knowledge of cryptography protocols and standards, including TLS, mTLS, hashing algorithms, and PKI.
• Active Secret clearance.
• High School Diploma or GED.

You will work with the latest technologies and collaborate with skilled teammates on both legacy modernization and new development initiatives.

NICE IF YOU HAVE

• Experience using Office 365 applications, including Teams
• Experience working in DoD Cloud and on-premises cloud environments
• Experience interacting with tools through RDP, web-based UI, SSH, and CLI
• Knowledge of federal compliance standards, including NIST 800-53, FIPS, DoD STIG, and FedRAMP
• Knowledge of Linux or UNIX environments, including navigating and troubleshooting basic OS issues
• Knowledge of networking protocols

Clearance

Secret clearance is required.

Compensation

The projected compensation range for this position is USD 86,900.00 to 198,000.00 annually. Final offer depends on location, education, experience, and contract requirements. Booz Allen provides a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional development.
