CFS is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer II to help architect, implement, and manage enterprise security technologies across endpoint, network, cloud, application, and infrastructure environments. This hybrid role based in Evanston, IL combines technical platform ownership with hands-on leadership across threat detection, vulnerability management, incident response, and continuous improvements to the organization’s security posture.
Role Overview
You will provide technical direction for security platforms and controls, translating organizational objectives into security architectures, standards, policies, and procedures. The position also supports audits and regulatory requirements, partnering with IT, business, and application teams to implement secure solutions and security guidance while promoting security awareness.
Responsibilities
- Architect, design, implement, and manage enterprise security technologies and controls across endpoint, network, cloud, application, and infrastructure environments.
- Act as the technical owner for key security platforms, including configuration, optimization, automation, operational support, and continuous improvement.
- Lead security initiatives across threat detection, vulnerability management, incident response, risk reduction, and overall security posture enhancement.
- Develop, maintain, and improve security architectures, standards, policies, procedures, and technical controls aligned to organizational security objectives.
- Evaluate new and existing systems to ensure security requirements are met, conducting risk assessments and recommending security improvements.
- Monitor, measure, and report on security effectiveness while supporting audits, compliance, and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA and PCI.
- Collaborate with IT, business, and application teams to deploy secure solutions, provide security guidance, and drive security awareness.
- Support incident response activities, including on-call support as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- Advanced or professional-level cybersecurity certification preferred (examples: CISSP, CISM, CCSP, GIAC).
- 5+ years of professional and relevant work experience, including 3+ years in a cybersecurity role such as Analyst, Engineer, or similar.
- Experience administering, supporting, and optimizing enterprise security platforms and technologies.
- Demonstrated success leading security projects, initiatives, and cross-functional remediation efforts.
- Strong understanding of information security principles, security operations, threat and risk management, incident response, security investigations, and security architecture.
- Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining security controls across endpoint, server, network, cloud, database, and application environments.
- Hands-on experience with vulnerability management, threat detection and response, identity security, exposure management, privileged access management, and security automation (SOAR).
- Familiarity with SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR/XDR, email security, endpoint protection, vulnerability scanning, system hardening, cloud security, and identity security services.

Relevant capabilities include SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR/XDR, SOAR, along with compliance context for HIPAA and PCI.
Compensation and Location
- Location: Evanston, IL (hybrid)
- Salary: USD 110,000 - 150,000 per year
