Job Description

General Dynamics Electric Boat is hiring a Shipboard Cybersecurity Engineer to support shipboard control system security activities for the COLUMBIA Class test programs. Based in Philadelphia, PA in an onsite setting, this role serves as a control system security consultant for the electric and propulsion plant and helps drive continuous monitoring and compliance across shipboard control systems.

In this position, you will support control system security risk assessment enforcement, certification and continuous monitoring activities, and the implementation and validation of cybersecurity requirements. The work includes coordinating with engineering teams, analyzing platform IT systems in line with DoD/DoN expectations, and troubleshooting shipboard and prototypic equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a control system security consultant for the electric and propulsion plant for COLUMBIA Class test programs.
  • Support continuous monitoring and enforcement of control systems security risk assessments.
  • Follow and write processes for continuous improvement and operation.
  • Write and provide training to enforce control systems security compliance.
  • Ensure cybersecurity requirements are implemented and validated, and track requirements that are not being met.
  • Perform equipment research, project management, risk management, prepare presentations, and participate in customer meetings.
  • Troubleshoot various pieces of shipboard and prototypic equipment.
  • Train operations, test, and engineering personnel on control systems security and IT component access.
  • Collaborate closely with component engineers to resolve control systems security discrepancies and IT system issues.
  • Perform DoD/DoN platform information technology system analysis, develop security control implementation plans, and support system certification and continuous monitoring.
  • Design, implement, operate, and maintain sensitive unclassified and classified computing systems in accordance with NAVSEA processes.
  • Review equipment vendor software deliverables to evaluate compliance with cybersecurity requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Systems, Computer, Electrical Engineering or IT Cybersecurity.
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant system engineering and/or engineering experience.
  • Experience with risk management framework (RMF).
  • Active Final DoD SECRET clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Systems/Computer/Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical degree.
  • 2 to 5 years of IT troubleshooting including advanced networking, firewalls, group policy, and auditing.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or equivalent certification.
  • Understanding of NIST 800-53 security controls.
  • US Navy submarine service.
  • Experience in security of control systems.
