Senior Security Engineer, Infrastructure Services

Apple is hiring a Senior Security Engineer for the Data Center Network Security Engineering team in the United States (onsite). The role focuses on shaping next-generation network security capabilities and operationalizing security solutions across hybrid and multi-cloud infrastructure, spanning on-premises data centers through cloud environments.

Role Focus

This position supports Apple’s hyperscale network infrastructure by applying advanced network security controls, automation, and industry best practices. You will help protect hybrid environments using layered controls that extend across on-prem, cloud, and multi-cloud architectures.

Responsibilities

• Partner closely with the SDI team to influence the design of next-generation security products and features.
• Operationalize innovative security solutions that support Apple’s hyperscale network infrastructure.
• Apply advanced network security controls, automation, and industry best practices across on-premises and cloud or multi-cloud deployments.
• Contribute to the protection of hybrid environments across on-prem, cloud, and multi-cloud architectures.

Required Qualifications

• Sophisticated knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols, security protocols, and large-scale network features.
• Deep technical background in network-layer security mechanisms, including routing isolation and routing security.
• Experience with stateful and stateless firewalls.
• Knowledge of network access control.
• Understanding of VPN and tunneling technologies.
• Cloud-scale networking security background, including developing, enforcing, and maintaining security frameworks, policies, and best practices.
• Experience deploying and scaling overlay networking technologies, including VXLAN, GRE, and IPSec.

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience building, securing, and deploying large-scale data center network and cloud environments.
• CISSP or equivalent certification(s).
• Extensive understanding of public and private cloud networking security architecture and compute virtualization technologies.
• Experience with OVS and Container & Kube networking.
• Engineering leadership experience.
• Self-starter attitude with the ability to drive ideas from inception to implementation.
• Technical presentation and communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proficiency in one or more software languages, including Swift, Golang, or Python.
• Competence with Linux/Unix.

Compensation and Location

• Salary: USD 184,700 to 324,800 per year
