Job Description

The Senior Cyber Security Engineer within Universal’s Cyber Security Assurance team provides strategic technical direction to enable secure design, development, and deployment of solutions supporting the Creative Division and the AI/Data Division.

Role Overview

This position serves as a senior subject matter expert and thought leader for cyber security. The role provides strategic direction to support secure outcomes across Universal’s Creative Division and AI/Data Division, with responsibilities spanning security design support, risk communication, engineering leadership, and security technology planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support UDX in securely designing, implementing, and deploying systems; validate designs as requested by the business; ensure the UDX network is secure.
  • Resolve complex technical and integration issues using creative and secure solutions.
  • Help create and define security practices for UDX networks using an intelligence and threat-driven defense model.
  • Identify and communicate key risks and security posture to senior leadership; maintain effective relationships across UDX business units.
  • Mentor junior security engineers and architects and contribute to communities of excellence as appropriate.
  • Lead initiatives that ensure the technology vision is realized.
  • Collaborate with other cyber security teams to define and document a 3-5 year security technology vision and roadmap.
  • Actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences, Information Systems, or Cyber Security required.
  • 7+ years of demonstrated experience working in a technical area as part of a large team, including Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, DevSecOps, Infrastructure, Networking, Cyber Security, or Architecture.
  • Experience with large-scale networks, routing protocols, and network security components.
  • Experience working with emerging technologies such as GenAI, VR, and Robotics.
  • Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation.
  • Experience performing Threat Analysis and modeling using best-in-industry frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK, demonstrating proficiency in implementing robust security measures.
  • Empathy for engineering teams, balancing security guidelines and policies with operational needs to maintain the desired end-state corporate security posture.

Preferred Knowledge Areas

  • Extensive knowledge and experience working with applicable data security, compliance, and privacy legal and regulatory frameworks.

Technical Focus Areas

  • AI/ML: In-depth knowledge of generative AI platforms such as Azure OpenAI services, including various models, underlying technologies, and associated safety and security risks.
  • Data & Storage: Experience designing and enforcing data classification, encryption, key management, DLP, and privacy controls; familiarity with AI data lifecycle risks, regulatory requirements, and secure data handling for training and inference workloads.
  • Cloud Security: Experience designing and securing cloud and hybrid environments, including identity architecture, network segmentation, workload protection, logging/monitoring, and secure configuration management; strong understanding of cloud-native security controls, shared responsibility models, and posture management across modern infrastructure platforms.
