Senior Application Security Engineer
Job Description
Motion Recruitment is hiring a hands-on Senior Application Security Engineer to support clients with security-focused work during new development. This Chicago, IL onsite role emphasizes practical application security, combining secure coding review with automated testing and vulnerability management.
The position also involves working closely with client teams on an ongoing basis, helping bring application security into the delivery workflow and ensuring security checks are embedded where new code is built and released.
What you’ll do
- Partner with clients on new development efforts
- Perform code reviews with an application security focus
- Conduct SAST, DAST, and SCA scanning
- Identify vulnerabilities in software and support remediation activities
- Interact with clients regularly to align security work with development needs
- Integrate security controls into CI/CD pipelines
- Help evaluate third-party libraries, components, and dependencies
Required experience
- 5+ years of experience as an appsec or product security or devsecops professional
- Deep software development background
- Experience with SCA, DAST, SAST, and code reviews
- Strong communication skills
- Previous experience in consulting is a plus
