Job Description

Boston Consulting Group’s Platinion division is seeking a Manager, Cybersecurity to steer the delivery of cybersecurity consulting engagements, strategy, risk management, and transformation initiatives for clients. This onsite role in Chicago, IL combines senior-level leadership with hands-on technical guidance, anchored by a competitive annual salary of USD 190,000 and a requirement for a bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity or related fields along with substantial practical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced cybersecurity expertise to drive innovative client solutions as a technical expert.
  • Apply cutting-edge approaches to tailor and implement cybersecurity strategies for clients as an innovator.
  • Act as a change agent to align and onboard teams, guiding the organization through new cybersecurity processes and tools while navigating complex challenges.
  • Collaborate as an interdisciplinary team player, building relationships with cross-functional stakeholders and existing security teams.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of practical experience in cybersecurity consulting or cybersecurity management (leading teams of five or more) across various sectors and contexts.
  • Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, information systems, mathematics, natural sciences, business management, or a related field.
  • Experience developing cybersecurity strategies or policies.
  • Ability to quantify and manage cybersecurity risk.
  • Experience leading security assessments.
  • Proven track record designing, transforming, implementing, and running cybersecurity programs.
  • Development of security architectures and integration of security into applications and systems.
  • Experience implementing cloud security and managing risk from third parties and the supply chain.
  • Designing and implementing identity and access management solutions.
  • Experience developing and upskilling a cybersecurity workforce, and delivering culture change, awareness, and training.
  • Conducting continuous monitoring activities using SIEM tools, APT hunting, and user behavior analytics (UBA).
  • Designing and implementing vulnerability management and conducting vulnerability assessments.
  • Experience performing penetration testing, incident management, and business continuity/disaster recovery planning (BCP/DRP).
  • Broad knowledge of cybersecurity technologies across the organizational and acquisition lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with frameworks and standards including NIST Cybersecurity Framework, C2M2, NIST SP 800-53 and companions, ISO/IEC 27000 family, and Cloud Security Alliance CCM.
  • Team-oriented attitude with strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Analytical and conceptual mindset with a results-oriented approach, confidence, and persuasiveness.
  • GenAI tool fluency (for example, using ChatGPT or Claude) and the ability to validate responses.
  • Business-fluent written and spoken English.
  • Willingness to travel globally to work with clients and BCG teams; travel may be significant depending on project needs.
