Lead Security Engineer

Disney Experiences Technology (US Parks & Resorts) is hiring a Lead Security Engineer to strengthen security across critical applications and services. In this onsite role in Bay Lake, FL, you will help process security assessments, design and maintain security controls, and improve monitoring and detection capabilities while driving security investigations and solutions sourcing.

This position sits within the US Parks Site Reliability Organization, a team accountable for the reliability and resilience of a portfolio of critical services. The organization partners with product, engineering, and SRE teams to evolve reliability standards rooted in SRE and DevOps principles, using observability, automation, and data-driven decision making to improve service health.

What you’ll do

• Process and prioritize security assessment reports.
• Evaluate designs and requests for alignment with security controls.
• Design and maintain security controls for applications and infrastructure.
• Implement WAF and bot management configurations.
• Understand and audit security configurations and standards.
• Enhance security monitoring and detection systems.
• Identify current and emerging technology issues, including security trends, vulnerabilities, and threats.
• Conduct security investigations.
• Source and implement new security solutions to better protect the organization.
• Perform proactive research to analyze security weaknesses and recommend appropriate strategies.

What you bring

• Minimum 7 years of related work experience.
• Proficiency working in agile environments.
• At least 5 years of experience with one CDN such as Akamai, Cloudflare, or Fastly.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools including GitLab, AWS CodeBuild, or Azure DevOps.
• Proficiency with configuration management tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or Chef.
• Experience with procedural programming languages including Python, Perl, Ruby, Java, Go, Rust, or C/C++.
• Skilled in cloud environments: AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
• Proven ability to design and build reliable, scalable enterprise systems.
• Ability to lead reliability efforts and identify root causes in large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience leading technical projects and ensuring smooth delivery.
• Strong troubleshooting across systems, network, and code.
• Experience mentoring, guiding, or training other engineers, with strong written and verbal communication and the ability to influence without direct authority.
• Proactive approach to continuous learning and mastering emerging tools and methodologies.
• Experience with NIST and CIS security benchmarks.

• The hiring range for this position in Lake Buena Vista, FL is $148,300 - $198,800 per year.
• Base pay may vary based on internal equity, geographic region, and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
